Sandstone Advisory

Sandstone Services

Eleven areas of advisory practice. GCC-anchored, globally relevant.

Sandstone operates across eleven areas of advisory practice spanning the development, activation, and elevation of tourism destinations, distinctive places to stay, sports tourism events, and tourism experiences in the GCC. The work is structured across nine principal pillars and two additional services, drawn upon individually or in combination according to each tourism engagement's needs.

Destination Development

Strategic input into the development of tourism destinations, including shaping the direction of a destination's infrastructure ecosystem and advising on its hospitality assets, including distinctive places to stay such as lodges, camps, retreats, and glamping concepts. The pillar also addresses F&B propositions, retail planning, destination sporting venues, community venues, cycling tracks, skate parks, active public spaces, and the supporting commercial fabric a tourism destination needs to function. This is the foundation work: the long-term economic, cultural, and physical architecture a tourism destination is built upon.

Destination Activation

Bringing tourism destinations to life once the infrastructure exists, through programming, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy. Focused on the operational and commercial layer that turns a built tourism destination into a living, visited, and revenue-generating one.

03

Tourism Product Development

Designing and developing the tangible, physical tourism assets that give a destination something for visitors to do on the ground: adventure hubs, cycling hubs, astronomy centres, zip lines, and other built attractions positioned to anchor a tourism destination's offer. This is the built layer of a tourism destination, the physical infrastructure visitors come to encounter.

Tourism Experience Creation

Crafting standalone intangible tourism experiences born from landscape, narrative, and moment, such as sunset desert safaris, journeys retracing the footsteps of historical voyagers, or hikes ending at vantage points no built product could match. The pillar then programmes those tourism experiences into itineraries that can be sold and delivered.

Sports Tourism Events

End-to-end advisory for sports tourism events at scale, from feasibility and bid strategy through to delivery, host-city integration, and the legacy phase that follows. Covers governing-body engagement, rights-holder relationships, and the operational backbone required to host at international standard within a tourism destination context.

Special Project Activation

Bespoke activation of first-of-kind tourism concepts that sit outside conventional categories: luxury expeditions, aerial and adventure sporting concepts, and high-impact sports tourism initiatives. It exists for tourism work too unusual or too signature to fit the standard tourism product or sports tourism events framework.

Destination Wellness

Strategic positioning of tourism destinations as credible wellness propositions, integrating health, longevity, and restorative offerings into the destination's identity and tourism product mix. Distinct from wellness operations: this pillar shapes destination-level wellness strategy, not individual spa or treatment programmes.

08

Destination Fitness

Positioning tourism destinations as credible fitness, training, and active-lifestyle propositions, including high-performance environments, training-camp infrastructure for running, cycling, and triathlon disciplines, and the design of distinctive endurance and participation sports tourism events that draw visitors who would not otherwise come. Covers the full endurance spectrum: runs of varied distances, multi-distance triathlons, duathlons, aquathlons, cycling races, and obstacle course races.

Hushpitality

Advisory for hotels, resorts, retreats, and entire tourism destinations seeking to position within the emerging Hushpitality category, where luxury is defined through deliberate restraint, acoustic intelligence, and structural stillness rather than accumulation or constant programming. Distinct from wellness in that it is structural and architectural rather than treatment-led, and distinct from quiet luxury in that it shapes the full guest journey rather than the aesthetic surface alone.

Travel and Tourism Security

Strategic advisory on security design, risk mitigation, and safety architecture for tourism destinations, hospitality assets, and travel experiences. Covers hospitality asset security posture, destination-level safety programmes, and travel risk awareness for institutional clients in tourism. Its purpose is practical: helping tourism destinations and hospitality operators plan for, prepare against, and respond to the safety considerations their guests and visitors carry with them.

Tourism Resilience and Destination Reboot

Strategic advisory for tourism destinations emerging from periods of conflict and regional disruption. The work covers the restoration of visitor confidence, the reactivation of tourism infrastructure and hospitality assets, the re-engagement of source tourism markets, and the sequencing of a destination's return to international visibility. Recovery is treated as a tourism discipline in its own right: measured, staged, and built to restore a tourism destination's standing rather than simply reopen its doors.

How engagements are delivered.

Sandstone engagements are led by strategic counsel and supported by a team of senior associates scaled to the size and complexity of each project. Most tourism engagements draw on between one and three pillars, structured around the specific work required.
